Open house on exterior woodwork.

Tastefully dressing up your exterior is essential for your home to look its best. Gates, windows, fences... nothing is too good for it! Exterior millwork is there to serve you.

A beautiful gate to enhance your entrance

The choice of the gate is far from being a detail but rather an invitation to enter. It contributes greatly to the first impression you get when you see your house. Its functionality, aesthetics and solidity will be the qualities to look for during your prospection... then it's a matter of taste and budget! Everything will also depend on the style of your home. The whole must obviously be as harmonious as possible. In wood, PVC, aluminum or iron, you will certainly find your happiness. Be careful, you can have certain constraints reducing your possibilities, if you are in an allotment or according to the PLU of your commune. The choice will also be guided by its practical aspect. Opening or closing it should not be complicated or require complicated maneuvers. To protect yourself from prying eyes and potential burglars, consider the height and filling of the gate. As an indication, a gate of 1.50 m allows you to see the street from your home, but does not allow you to shelter from prying eyes. A gate that is more than 1.80 m high breaks up the view of the street, but risks masking the light and can reduce the feeling of space. Depending on the type of infill, the visibility between the public road and your house will be more or less important. The solid gate allows you to be completely out of sight. The semi-full gate (generally only the lower part) allows to protect children and animals and to see through the upper part. Finally, the openwork gate allows a partial view on the outside and lets the light through. Whether swinging or sliding, the ideal security solution is a motorized gate. Thanks to your smartphone or remote control, you are the only one who can open and close it. The best of all is to combine it with a videophone, motion detection systems or even alarms. The icing on the cake, motorization simplifies your life. Think of this winter, when you won't want to get out of your car to open the gate in the pouring rain! With a motorized gate, you no longer need to get out of your car. It makes life easier!
And why not a motorization exclusively managed by solar energy thanks to mini photovoltaic panels cleverly placed. A battery storing the energy will save you in case of power failure. Guaranteed 100% without electrical wiring, you will play the double card of ecology and savings.

2022 trend color for the gate

It's gray in all its forms: anthracite, slate, blue... The success of gray in all its shades does not falter. It has the ability to adapt to all atmospheres, whether contemporary or traditional. It is now the reference value for exterior woodwork. Both chic and elegant, gray is the trend of the moment.

A fence adapted to surround your property

Why fence your property? It's not an obligation but rather a need. It is indeed essential to feel good at home and to protect oneself from other people's eyes. Once the "decor" is set, it is not incompatible to combine security and aesthetics. Just like your gate, your fence should blend into the landscape and be in harmony with it.
If you want to feel at home or protect yourself from prying eyes, opaque fences such as PVC, aluminum, composite or wood fences are to be preferred. If you want to add aesthetic value, design fences made of composite, stone, wrought iron and aluminum can also be adapted. As a general rule, the choice of materials is free (wood, aluminum, wire mesh, plants...). However, if you live in a subdivision, not everything is allowed. Consult the specifications and regulations. They will specify your rights and obligations in this matter (height of the fence, nature of the materials to be used...). Before doing anything, check with your town hall's urban planning department to find out if there are any specific rules in this area. In 2022, wood is popular and is becoming an essential material for exteriors and especially for fences. Today, the desire is mainly for natural materials like wood. In terms of aesthetics, the diversity of species and the choice of colors allows wood to integrate perfectly with all environments and all architectural styles.

Windows changed to be better insulated

Don't let your windows be the rain or shine anymore! Change them! You'll win on all fronts: comfort, insulation, energy savings, reduced heating bills... Environmental protection and sustainable construction are at the heart of our concerns. Window manufacturers have understood this and have adapted to the recommendations of the RE 2020 (environmental regulations). Buildings must have a minimum surface area of windows greater than or equal to 1/6 of the living area. The objective: to improve the energy performance of the house and limit the use of heating and artificial light. Large windows and floor-to-ceiling bay windows are no longer the exception. They are equipped with frames, 100% waterproof and insulating, but also more and more discreet. Double, triple and even quadruple glazing provide unequalled thermal and acoustic performance. To further reduce heat loss, choose low-emission glazing. A surface treatment or the injection of a rare gas (Argon, Krypton...) between the panes instead of air will prevent heat loss in winter. In summer, it will be a "barrier" to solar radiation. Some manufacturers even offer an intelligent filtering film. It will vary the transparency of the glass according to the temperature and the sun's rays to regulate the temperature of the room. Don't hesitate to ask a professional for advice! In terms of design, the windows have a pure and natural style. This is reflected in the range of colors offered with dominant greens, grays, beiges and browns. Tones that are also present in our interiors for a harmonious and authentic atmosphere. For an optimal integration in your decoration, dare the two-tone window. One for the interior and one for the exterior. And what about security? Laminated glass, tempered glass, and anti-shock glass are systems that have proven their worth against break-ins. But home automation has made enormous progress in securing your home. Your windows have become "intelligent". Connected devices will allow, among other things, to monitor the opening of the window remotely, from a tablet or a smartphone.

A secure front door is a must

Beyond the aesthetic side, security and insulation must be part of the criteria when you choose your front door. In addition to being beautiful, it must protect you from any intrusion into your home. You still have the classic 3 or 5 point lock, but manufacturers also offer more "modern" solutions that have evolved over time. The connected lock linked to your box obeys you at a distance! It can tell you at the moment "T" if your door is open or closed. There is also the option of a motorized lock with which your keys are replaced by a keypad, a remote control or a fingerprint reader. What technology! Regarding insulation, your front door is also intended to protect you from heat loss and unwanted noise from outside. This is where the choice of materials will be very important. However, these performances will not depend on the thickness of the door alone. Instead, trust the Ud coefficient ("u" for thermal conductivity and "d" for door). The higher the Ud, the greater the heat loss, and therefore the higher the energy consumption. The same applies to sound insulation. Check the sound reduction index Rw in dB (decibels). The higher the number, the better the results. Whether you choose a classic or a more contemporary entrance door, the main thing is that it is in harmony with the other exterior woodwork.
