You can never be too careful. Accidents, water damage, burglaries... so many unforeseen events that can have consequences on your daily life and your finances.
That's when you say to yourself: "Thank God I have good insurance".
To be insured is to protect yourself, others and your property! Whether you are responsible or a victim, being well covered is reassuring.
A delicate choice
Faced with the multitude of offers available on the market, it is difficult to choose. To find the insurance (and the insurer) that will best meet your needs and profile, several criteria must be taken into account. First of all, the reputation, the experience and the seriousness of your interlocutor. Be careful with offers that are too "tempting" and that may not be very reliable. Whatever the purpose of the insurance, before signing anything, read the whole contract carefully. Especially the fine print. Take the time to read the conditions (general and specific) but also the guarantees provided and the exclusions that may deprive you of coverage. If you have the slightest doubt, ask for clarification. The deductible and the level of coverage are also important criteria. Focus on proximity. E-mails, text messages and telephone calls are good. But to negotiate certain clauses of the contract, to establish a claim, to obtain compensation... it is preferable to have your insurer not too far away to explain the facts to him in person. It saves time and efficiency.
Well protected with multi-risk home insurance
Whether you are a tenant or an owner, insuring your home allows you to be compensated in case of a disaster. The guarantees provided in this context are divided into two parts:
- the private life civil liability guarantee which takes care of the prejudices caused to the third parties by the insured, his beneficiaries, even his pets;
- property damage coverage, which protects the home and the movable property in it.
The majority of contracts provide coverage in case of water damage (water leaks, broken pipes, seepage, etc.), fire, glass breakage, theft, vandalism, natural disasters (storms, floods, etc.), and the like.provided that the event has been declared by interministerial decree to lead to compensation), technological disasters. In addition to these basic guarantees, it is possible to add additional guarantees (temporary rehousing, dispatch of craftsmen, legal assistance, etc.).
Note: in the event of a disaster, negligence (open window, unclosed door, poor maintenance, etc.) may result in a reduction or even cancellation of the compensation.
School insurance:
It protects your child against damage caused or suffered at school, college or high school. It is optional for compulsory school activities, scheduled in the timetable (swimming pool outing...). On the other hand, it is compulsory for optional activities (visit to a museum, linguistic stay, discovery classes...). And even for the canteen and extracurricular activities (dance, music...) offered by the commune.
Coping with life's accidents
Life has its surprises. Not always very good ones. Nobody is safe from a domestic accident (fall, burn, poisoning...) while tinkering, cooking or playing sports. At home or while traveling.Life accident insurance protects you and your family from accidents that are your responsibility or of which you are a victim, whether or not the third party responsible is identified. It also covers bodily injury caused by natural disasters (avalanche, storm...) or technological disasters, medical accidents, assaults or attacks. This guarantee compensates the physical injury as well as its consequences on the personal, professional, material and family life... (costs resulting for example from the adaptation of housing, loss of income, constant assistance of a third person, aesthetic prejudice, permanent disability...). In most contracts, the insured is compensated if he/she is incapacitated by at least 30%.
Legal protection:
This guarantee allows you to benefit from legal advice or the assistance of a lawyer in the event of legal proceedings in the context of a dispute (for example with a craftsman or a neighbor) or to ensure your defense, if a third party believes that you are responsible for a damage that he has suffered.
Drive safely
Any owner of a motor vehicle (car, motorcycle, scooter...) must take out at least a third party liability insurance policy, usually called third party insurance. Offering only a minimal coverage, this guarantee covers the damages that the vehicle can cause : injury to a pedestrian or passenger, damage to another vehicle or building... However, the driver of the vehicle and the person found responsible for the accident will not be compensated for the damage they have suffered. Comprehensive insurance provides optimal security for both the vehicle and its owner. Optional guarantees such as 0 km assistance or the driver's bodily injury guarantee can be added to these formulas.
Note: insurance is required even if the vehicle is not being driven and is parked in a garage. It is also important to know that driving an uninsured vehicle is an offence punishable by a fine of €3,750. Depending on the circumstances, additional penalties may be added (community service, immobilization and/or confiscation of the vehicle with which the offence was committed, cancellation of the driving license and a ban on taking it again for a certain period of time...).
Anticipate the future with long-term care insurance
With age, the risk of loss of autonomy (total or partial) increases. People faced with this situation often have to incur substantial costs, whether to adapt their home, receive home help or finance accommodation in a specialized facility. Long-term care insurance allows the insured to benefit from financial compensation, in the form of an annuity or capital sum, when partial or total dependence occurs.
Note: this financial aid can be combined with theAPA and the various social assistance benefits that may be granted.
